Not much of a storm...

So Hanna blew through, but wasn't so bad. She probably didn't want to compete with my Hannah. :) Not that one even could. LOL! :)

It was a pretty mild storm, at least for these parts. I didn't even hear thunder or see lightening. Since I have been here, there have been some REALLY nasty thunderstorms blow through and I did NOT want to ever bother sitting through a hurricane. But since this was just a tropical storm, I assume that made all the difference.

We did get plenty of rain which I always enjoy listening to. We have gotten our fair share this year. I only had to water the grass twice. It was pretty nice not to have to waste money on that. We have to have pretty yards around here. Our home owner's assoc. watch us like a hawk. That isn't good when you have a sweet and wonderful dear hubby that doesn't like to mow the grass. Hee hee!! :):) Can't say I blame him either. There aren't any kids coming around to mow either. I'd be letting them have at it.

I am sorry there are no pics with this post. I can't get them on my laptop and Shane is asleep in the bedroom where the other computer is. I am going there just as soon as his uniform is dry. I am tuckered out.

Calm before the storm

As the day progresses, the clouds get thicker, and the winds have picked up. So I thought I'd take pictures before the rain hit. I got two. LOL! I got the two but the battery went dead then the rain hit. Currently it is 1:33 p.m. and the actual storm is several hours away, but this seems to be the outer bands. I said I'd never wait out a hurricane, but there was a little part of me that always wanted to. Well, since this one is either a tropical storm or catagory one, I figure I am here for the long haul. I'll sure be letting you know if it was worth it or not. Some of the thunderstorms we have been having are just a wee bit more than I can handle. Shane has duty tonight so he is in a nice big strong building and we are here at home. Hummm....:)

These two pictures are from our back yard. When I went out to get more after the battery loaded a bit, the lense kept fogging up so I couldn't even get a rainy picture. :)

Another Post to update...

Okay guys here goes. I have had a pitiful time with these here blogs. I had to delete one, start over, and here I am again.

I had posted an update for you gals but it got lost into cyberland and well operator error. :)

We are doing well. The kids are doing good. I am sorry I haven't written an update in so long. Or at least since the other failed, but no one got to see in the first place.

Our summer was busy going to FL for three weeks. That was an awesome time! I really enjoyed the time with my sister. We didn't make it to the beach though. She and her hubby own a catering business and they also serve lunch from 10:30 to 1:30. It was a lot of fun helping them out, but very busy work!

Shane was in VA shooting most of that time. He did well enough. It was against all branches of the service.

We are going to be starting school tomorrow finally. It was to be today, but we were gone all weekend and had a busy one today.

I will post pictures eventually. I haven't taken any of the kids since the last ones I posted. I should have taken some of my garden after it kicked the bucket. I had friends checking on it, but it still died. Mainly from too much water from raining everyday. I do think, though, that squash need to be on the ground not up where I had them. My cucumbers were not happy either. I did get some nice ones, but the bugs killed them. However, a couple vines survived. I was looking at them the other day and discovered some silly bugs were having a fancy party. So I bought some bug killer and boy I FINALLY have a cucumber that looks like it will survive! :) I have a lot of tiny ones coming on too.

My carrots survived as well and they are looking bigger by the day. I had a couple lettuce plants that made it as well. I guess next year, I'll research a bit more to see just how you ought to grow a garden. My tomatoes are quite sad now too. They are supposed to be big and plump, but they are barely the size of cherry ones. But I suppose it is all about "live and learn".

Today's news is that we will possibly be running from Hurricane Hanna. I figure though since I already have her, we won't have to see the other one. LOL! :) Anyway, we should know in a day or two if we have to leave. Personally, I want to leave NOW. I do not want to fight the traffic. Nor will I sit this one out. We have severe thunderstorms quite often here and they only last for a very short time. But it clued me to the fact I do NOT want to sit through a hurricane. Nope, no thanks! It sounds like we'll be at the northern part of it where all the tornadoes hit. Don't care to see those either. So time will tell.

This is my update for now. I am sorry it has been so long. I will work better at keeping it up. Hopefully it will work out this time. :)
